What is NDI?
NDI (Network Device Interface) is a royalty-free protocol for video-over-IP, enabling high-quality, low-latency video transmission over standard network infrastructure. Sub!t supports NDI output, making it easy to integrate subtitles into your existing broadcast or streaming setup.
Alpha Channel Support
Sub!t's NDI output includes full alpha channel (transparency) support. This means your subtitles can be overlaid on any video source without a background box, creating a clean, professional look.
Compatible Software
Sub!t's NDI output works seamlessly with popular broadcast and streaming software:
- vMix: Professional live video production software
- OBS Studio: Free and open-source streaming software
- Resolume Arena: VJ and live visual performance software
- Wirecast: Professional video streaming software
- Any NDI-compatible receiver
Setup Tips
For Transparent Background
To receive subtitles with transparent background, set the color format to RGBA or BGRA in your receiving software. For example, in Resolume Arena, change the NDI receiver's color format to "RGBA 8-bit" for proper transparency.
Preview Window Status
When NDI output is active, the preview window displays a purple "NDI" indicator in the top-left corner, confirming that your subtitle stream is live on the network.
Use Cases
- Live Streaming: Add professional subtitles to your live stream
- Virtual Production: Overlay subtitles on virtual sets
- Broadcast: Integrate with your existing broadcast infrastructure
